Petabus (CEO Choi Hyung-wook), a pet metaverse company, announced on the 23rd that it has signed a contract with Apple Pie Studio (CEO Kang Ho-kyung) to acquire “HelloPet,” a mobile game and pet raising application (hereinafter referred to as an app).



Petabus is a pet avatar company. It is making ‘Petabus Avatar’, a newly coined word for metaverse and pet. Starting with the signing ceremony, which was held not only offline but also on Metabus, Petabus plans to expand new businesses related to pets such as Metabus using intellectual property (IP).

HelloPet is an app that fosters virtual pets on smartphones under the concept of “Social Pet in My Phone,” which allows users to communicate anytime, anywhere. It focuses on the emotional elements of pets and presents characters that are similar to actual dogs and cats, and in addition to its own characters, famous animal characters such as ham pine and cream po are also available. Since the launch of the service, the sales of character items have exceeded 6.5 billion won, and the cumulative number of downloads has surpassed 10.5 million, the company explained.

HelloPet CEO Kang Ho-kyung, who attracted investment from Google Play’s app of the year and Kakao Ventures, has been loved by 4.5 million users in Korea, 6 million overseas and about 10.5 million users for five years.

CEO Kang said, “Based on these know-how and experiences, we are confident that HelloPet service will grow through global IP, and we will contribute to firmly establishing ourselves as a pet service in the metaverse market with Petabus.”
