The Japan Music Copyright Association (JASRAC) announced a beta version of “KENDRIX,” a sound source information management system with proof function, using blockchain technology on the 28th of last month, the Korea Intellectual Property Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the researcher<\/a>) said on the 7th.



The researcher explained that as streaming services have settled in the Japanese music industry, the number of personal music creators (DIY creators) who do their own music production, marketing, and distribution is increasing.<\/a>

It is said that these DIY creators are not recognized that “the fees for using works can be distributed through copyright management organizations apart from the profits from music transmission.”<\/a>

In particular, DIY creators do not have countermeasures against unauthorized use and disclosure of their music sources, and there is a problem that the use of the existing copyright<\/a> management system is high due to the structure of distribution of copyright fees or complex management contracts and music registration with JASRAC. This is not just a matter for the Japanese music industry. Our country is not much different.<\/a>
