The release of the decentralized infrastructure protocol is a significant step forward in infrastructure planning to gradually decentralize Web 3.0 application programming interface (API) services, according to CoinDesk.
According to CoinDesk, Infura supports about 350,000 users to connect decentralized applications (Dapps) to the Ethereum blockchain without having to operate a full node.
Infura collects user wallet addresses and IP data. Operating a full node allows users to protect civilian activities, but there is a burden of relatively high storage and cost.
According to CoinDesk, Infura will continue to provide centralized products even if it strengthens its move toward decentralization.
The centralized infrastructure service uses Consensus and Amazon Web Services (AWS) and will coexist with the decentralized protocol, CoinDesk said.
