KT announced on the 17th that it has signed a business agreement with LG Electronics to research and develop next-generation robots and discover new business opportunities.

The signing ceremony was held at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, with key officials including Song Jae-ho, vice president of KT’s AI and DX convergence business division, and Jang Ik-hwan, vice president of LG Electronics’ BS business division.

Through this business agreement, the two companies will gradually proceed with ▲ discovering new business opportunities ▲ establishing a cooperative system for next-generation robot R&D ▲ establishing a cooperative platform to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic service robot industry ▲ cooperating with the government on robot tasks.

Starting with the “AI Hotel Robot,” which was first introduced in December 2019, KT is commercializing robots in various fields such as food and beverage (F&B) delivery robots and AI care robots for elderly care services.

Starting with the pilot operation of the “LG Chloe Guidebot” at Incheon International Airport in 2017, LG Electronics recently launched the next-generation logistics robot “LG Chloe Caribot,” which is based on autonomous driving, and has a total of seven types of LG Chloe robots optimized for various spaces.

KT plans to quickly spread robots into user life with various services owned by LG Electronics in the future and cooperate in developing new robots based on accumulated user experiences.

Vice President Song said, “Through this partnership, we expect service robots to approach customers’ daily lives more easily and the domestic robot industry to take a leap forward.”

Vice President Jang said, “We expect more customers to experience customized robot solutions optimized for various spaces through this collaboration.”
